"The politicians are chipping away at it, day-by-day, night-by-night. It gets weaker and weaker," Trump said. "We're not going to let it happen. We're going to protect our 2nd amendment."
Here's where Trump stands on gun control:
Against banning types of guns or magazine sizes
Against expanding background checks, instead focus on fixing the "broken" system
Advocates expanding state gun permits to include the whole country rather than state by state restrictions
Focus on improving mental health treatment to catch mass shooters before a crime
Hillary Clinton doesn't want to do away with the second amendment, but she is fighting for stricter gun control laws.
"We need to close the loopholes and support universal background checks," Clinton said. "How many people have to die before we actually act?"
Here's where Clinton stands on gun control:
Expand background checks
Repeal the law that protects gun manufacturers from being held liable for crimes committed with their products
Provide funding to increase inspections on licensed arms dealers
Prohibit domestic abuse criminals from purchasing guns
Make it illegal for a person with a clean record to purchase a gun for a convicted criminal
Restrict military-grade weapons
Prohibit people suffering from mental illness from purchasing guns
Both candidates are both working with various groups to support their stances, with Clinton partnering with Mothers of the Movement and Trump with the NRA.
