Here are 15 holiday markets around Kansas City to help with your gift list this year

Holiday season is here. If you are starting to shop for the perfect gift or looking to support local businesses, there are a number of markets and fairs you need to check out this holiday season.

Kansas City is filled with local makers, artists and entrepreneurs that can help you fulfill your shopping lists before the holidays. Whether it’s a Strawberry Swing Market or a kids maker’s fair, there are a ton of options for you to choose from. The best part is, each of these events will help to support makers in the Kansas City area.

“It’s more important than ever to shop local,” Strawberry Swing owner Katie Mabry van Dieren said in a statement, adding that local markets are also one way to give back to your community during the holiday season.

On top of all the great vendors and artists that will be out selling goods at events across the metro, there will also be a few appearances from Santa Claus, himself.

Here are 12 holiday markets for you to check out this season:

Holiday Swing at City Market

20 E. 5th St.

The Holiday Swing is a Strawberry Swing Market in collaboration with City Market and will feature more than 250 Kansas City owned small businesses over the course of four weekends.

Nov. 25-2: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dec. 3-4: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dec 10-11: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

and Dec. 17-18: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Electric Park Holiday Night Market

2700 Guinotte Ave

This night market is also made possible by Strawberry Swing and J. Reiger & Co. There will be seven rotating vendors over the course of three weekends in December.

Dec. 2-3: 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Dec. 9-10: 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Dec. 16-17: 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Holiday Market Soiree at Hotel Kansas City

1228 Baltimore Ave

This pop-up holiday market is hosted by Strawberry Swing and Hotel Kansas City. It will feature local artists, businesses and drinks for people to enjoy.

Nov. 30: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Tis the Season Art and Craft Show

520 Northwest Murray Rd, Lee’s Summit

This craft fair will have over 100 booths for guests to check out. There will also be an appearance from Santa and Mrs. Claus between 12 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Holi-Gays Market

This party and holiday market will feature local, queer-owned businesses, raffles and prizes.

Soul of Santa Holiday Market

Hosted by Art Garden KC and The Soul of Santa “Do Good’‘ Foundation, this art fair will have vendors, artists and makers selling everything from jewelry to home decor. There will also be warm beverages and a heated outdoor marketplace.

Holiday Kid Makers Market

Want to patronize the Kansas City area’s youngest entrepreneurs? Check out this Kid Makers Market in Lenexa. The event is sponsored by KC Homemade Goods and will have over 35 kid vendors.

KC Holiday Boutique

600 College Blvd, Overland Park

This festive market will also feature hundreds of local artists and vendors at the Overland Park Convention Center. This market does have a $13 admission fee. To buy tickets, visit here.

Holiday Art Market

This holiday market is hosted by the studio of Michael Schliefke and there will be tons of original art, including paintings, silkscreen prints, t-shirts and more.

Lenexa Holiday Farmers Market

17201 W. 87th St. Parkway

If you are in the market for the perfect holiday meal ingredients, the Lenexa Holiday Farmer’s Market should be your next stop. There will be two holiday farmers markets, one before Thanksgiving and another in time for Christmas.

Nov. 19: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

GIFT Black Business Market

5008 Prospect Ave.

Kansas City G.I.F.T. will host a market that hosts 50 local Black owned businesses. This market will also be an opportunity to contribute to Black owned businesses, while also shopping for holiday gifts and personal items.

Nov. 26th: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

GIFT Wrapped Pop Up Shop

5008 Prospect Ave.

This standing pop up shop of local Black owned businesses allows people to come and check out 20 Black owned businesses before the holiday seasons sets in.. There will also be some photo opportunities, if you’re interested in getting some holiday photos taken.

Dec. 12th-16th: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Black Business Holiday Market

5008 Prospect Ave.

This market will be perfect for any last minute local shopping before the holiday. There will be 50 businesses at the market, selling goods and gifts just in time for the holiday.

Dec. 17th: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Holiday Pop-up Shop

101 W 151st St., Olathe

This pop-up market is hosted by Anthology of Olathe, a senior living community. In addition to vendors, there will also be a food drive. The drive will accept canned foods, rice, dog and cat food and hygiene items.

Nov. 19: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Winter Wonderland Extravaganza

19310 E 50th Ter., Independence

This extravaganza will be hosted at the EPIC Sports Lodge in Independence. There will be local crafts and vendors and Santa will make an appearance from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Nov. 26: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Arts KC Winter Market

106 Southwest Blvd

Art KC’s Winter Market will host over 40 artists and makers. It will be the organization’s very first winter market and it will be free to the public.

Dec. 2: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Dec. 3: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Dec. 9: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Dec. 10: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Santa’s Workshop and Holiday Gift Market

3189 Mercier St.

In addition to vendors, this market will have a woodworking workshop set up. Kids will be encouraged to make their own wooden toys and Santa will even stop buy to help them along. This event is hosted by the Kansas City Woodworkers’ Guild and free to the public.

Cookie Walk and Holiday Market

9555 N Oak Trafficway

Hosted by Good Shepherd Church, this market will have over 50 vendors and a selection of 40 pastries for guests to try.
