100 girl names that start with 'B'
There have been three top girl names that start with “B” in the last 100 years: Brittany, Barbara and Betty.
“If you look at the stats, 'B' has never been a terribly common letter. It’s really a nickname letter,” Laura Wattenberg, creator of Namerology, tells TODAY.com.
For example, girls named Elizabeth often go by Betty, Betsy or Beth.
“At the moment, there really aren’t a lot of girls names starting with 'B.' It’s a quiet period for the letter,” Wattenberg says.
Brooklyn and Bella are the only "B" names that made the Social Security Administration’s top 100 list for girls in 2022.
While there are no big trending girl names that start with "B" at the moment, there are two styles that are quietly rising, according to Wattenberg.
“The first up-and-coming trend is surnames such as Blair, Bellamy and Baylor,” Wattenberg says. She’s also seen an uptick in “cute vintage nicknames,” including Bertie and Billy.
“Bennie and Bibi are also rising,” Wattenberg says.
