1 Arlington restaurant temporarily closed, another fails recent health inspections
One Arlington restaurant was closed and another failed during the Aug. 4-17 health inspections, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram.
Opium Arlington, a bar/lounge at 3200 Justiss Drive, was closed by the city Aug. 10 for inadequate refrigeration, according to a city spokesperson. The establishment was also found to have “significant sanitation issues.”
The bar was approved to re-open Aug. 16.
Mezcal Sports Bar and Grill at 844 Secretary Drive failed its Aug. 10 inspection with a score of 67. According to the spokesperson, the inspector found multiple issues, including cross contamination of food, lack of employee training and inadequate handwashing practices.
The violations were corrected at the time of the inspection, and the facility was allowed to remain open, the spokesperson said. Mezcal Sports Bar and Grill will have to undergo an unannounced follow-up inspection at a later date.
Arlington restaurants are scored on a 100-point system, with 100 being a perfect score. Restaurants and other places that serve food that score 75 or less require a follow-up inspection, and 70 is considered extremely poor. Inspection reports don’t include details of the violations.
India Grill at 3900 Cheney Drive received a low score of 74 on Aug. 15. The restaurant passed but will require a follow-up inspection.
