Who was the News-Leader Athlete of the Week from April 8-13?

You can vote for the Athlete of the Week from all ongoing MSHSAA sports across Southwest Missouri. There were several individual performances to choose from. Who will get your vote?

You can nominate your favorite Southwest Missouri athlete, including their stats, in an email to News-Leader sports reporter Wyatt Wheeler by 11 p.m. each Sunday. You can also tag him on X at @WyattWheeler_NL with your stats and standout performers.

Last week's winner was Kickapoo track's 4x200-meter relay team of Easton MacLachlan, Steven Banks, Trey Christian and Micah Owunubi.

The nominees this week for News-Leader Athlete of the Week from April 8-13:

Cason Bekemeier, Republic golf: Bekemeier finished third at the Ozark Invitational at Fremont Hills finishing with a score of 74.

Gracie Troester, Republic track: Troester finished first in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs with times of 5:10.93 and 11:09.56 respectively at the Nixa Invitational.

Jackson Cantwell, Nixa field: Cantwell surpassed the national high in the shot put by three feet with a throw of 22.04 meters at the Licklider Relays in Jefferson City.

Sydney Bryan, Spokane track: Bryan finished first in the 100-meter dash at the Ash Grove Whitehead Invitational with a time of 13.12 seconds.

Colin Kelley, Nixa baseball: Kelley allowed zero runs and three hits with four strikeouts and a pair of walks in the Eagles' win over Joplin.

Sinry Mendoza, Hollister track: Mendoza ran the 1,600-meter in 4:42.19 to finish first at the Nixa Invitational.
