Nevada election official says he’s worried for staffers' safety as vote count continues

Joe Gloria, the elections registrar in Clark County, Nev., said Thursday that he’s concerned for the safety of his staffers as his team counts ballots amid feisty protests and unfounded claims of voter fraud.
The eyes of the nation have fixed on the swing state of Nevada as ballot counters wrap up their work. Tensions have bubbled and demonstrators descended upon the Clark County Elections Department in North Las Vegas on Wednesday night.

“I am concerned for the safety of my staff. We’re putting measures into place to make sure that we have the security that’s necessary,” Gloria said in a news conference on Thursday. “We’re going to be OK. We’re going to continue to count. We will not allow anyone to stop us from doing what our duty is in counting ballots.”
President Trump has fanned anger about the election process, declaring without evidence that the election results are somehow fraudulent. Trump was narrowly trailing in the Nevada tally as of Thursday afternoon.

On Wednesday, an angry man wearing a “BBQ, BEER, FREEDOM” tank top interrupted Gloria as he briefed reporters, shouting: “The Biden crime family’s stealing this election.”
Nevada’s final count might not be complete before the weekend, but other coveted swing states — including Pennsylvania — appear closer to the finish line. A win in Pennsylvania would complete the Democrats’ so-called Blue Wall and seal a victory for Joe Biden.
