Nev Schulman, host of "Catfish," has revealed he feels "lucky to be here" following a recent bike accident that resulted in a broken neck.

The 39-year-old shared his story on Instagram, sharing he was hit by a truck while on his way to pick up his son from school.

"I never made it to pick up my son from school on the bike," he wrote Aug. 12. "In fact in some ways, I’m glad I didn’t."

"I was alone on impact. Me and the truck. And then I guess the pavement. I was alone and unconscious," he added.

Schulman later learned that he had sustained fractures in his neck but, fortunately, is not paralyzed.

"My hands were a question mark there for a minute but the human body is incredible," he wrote. "I’m lucky to be here, alive, standing and hugging my family, projected to make a full recovery."

The former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant shared photos of his injury with a trigger warning for “images of medical trauma and severe injury.”

The photos included his surgical scar and damaged bike helmet, along with X-rays of the fracture.

Schulman also expressed his gratitude for the medical care he received, thanking the emergency responders and hospital staff for their support. His Instagram post includes videos of his recovery, featuring hospital staff helping him stand and high-fiving him as he begins to walk again.

Amidst the trauma, Schulman's post reflects on the importance of his family. He shared that just the day before his accident, they had enjoyed a “magical” fishing trip.

“A day full of love and wonder in the way only calm days in nature with family can be,” he said. “We hadn’t planned on fishing last Sunday and my instinct was to say 'no' to scramble-planning a day trip, but looking back a week later, I’m so glad I said 'yes.'"

"It’s true what they say — life can change in an instant," he added.

His post also featured heartwarming moments as he reunited with his wife and kids, including videos of drawings from his children and a group hug.

In his comment, Schulman ended on a note of gratitude, which he said he's now "really starting to understand the meaning of."

"For the big and little things before the accident, and now everything moving forward," he continued.
