Netflix Shares a First Look at Prince William and Prince Harry in The Crown Season 6
With just one month to go until the premiere of The Crown season six, Netflix has shared eight new first look images at the final season of the royal drama.
As previously announced, season six will be split into two parts: Part one, which premieres on November 16, will focus on Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed, and part two, which drops December 14, will focus on the royal family through 2005, including Prince William and Kate Middleton's early romance.
The stills appear to be from part one of The Crown's last season, as they show a young Prince William and Prince Harry, Princess Diana, and Dodi and Mohamed Al Fayed. One shot is a recreation of Charles, William, and Harry at Balmoral Castle during summer 1997:
Other stills show Dodi and Diana on the water (season five ended with Diana packing to join the Al Fayed family on their yacht in Saint Tropez):
"I think it's a really unique challenge as an actor, to portray those days," Elizabeth Debicki, who plays Princess Diana, said of filming these scenes. "I really just trusted in [Crown creator] Peter [Morgan]'s emotional blueprint that he created for us to follow. It's his interpretation and I think it made emotional sense to me, so I clung to that. Because, obviously, it's devastating and it's fraught and we can never know."
Ahead of the season five premiere, Khalid Abdalla, who plays Dodi, told Town & Country, "Everyone focuses on the crash. And strangely, as a result, what they miss is this fabulous summer that Dodi and Diana had with each other. From an acting perspective, that's the real challenge—and that's also been the real joy to explore. They're falling in love, but you know what happened afterwards. You look at the images of Diana at that time, and she was really happy. It's been a real pleasure as Dodi, as a character who makes Diana happy, having those scenes with a happy Diana."
