Netflix scraps release of Halle Berry's new movie
Netflix has scrapped a new science fiction movie starring Halle Berry and Power star Omari Hardwick.
According to Variety, the streaming service has chosen not to move forward with The Mothership's release even though it was filmed in 2021.
The project reportedly encountered multiple post-production delays, therefore Netflix has decided it would not be possible to release it.
Digital Spy has reached out to representatives for both Netflix and Halle Berry for clarification on the status of The Mothership.

The scrapping of The Mothership could bring to mind Warner Bros's decision not to release the Batgirl movie even though it was already filmed. John Cena's Looney Tunes comedy Coyote vs. Acme and the animated film Scoob! Holiday Haunt were also cancelled by Warner Bros last year.
The Mothership was to have starred Berry as Sara Morse, a single mother trying to keep her family on their farm one year after the mysterious disappearance of her husband.
Sara's entire world would have turned upside down when she discovered an alien object buried on her farm, thus forcing her to question everything she thought she knew about her husband's disappearance.

The now-binned film was written and directed by Bridge of Spies' Matthew Charman, and featured Hardwick, Lost in Space's Molly Parker and Succession's Sydney Lemmon.
Berry will still be working with Netflix on The Union, in which she'll star with Mark Wahlberg as former high school sweethearts reunited as part of a worldwide conspiracy.
The Union comes from Entourage director Julian Farino, and will also feature Academy Award winner J. K. Simmons, His Dark Materials star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Luke Cage actor Mike Colter.
Her Mothership co-star Omari Hardwick most recently starred with Jennifer Lopez in Netflix's The Mother, and worked on the streaming service's zombie action movie Army of the Dead with director Zack Snyder.
