Netflix reveals first look at The Twits adaptation as it confirms 2025 release
Netflix has given fans their first look at the upcoming film adaptation of Roald Dahl's The Twits, with a 2025 release also confirmed.
Netflix took to X to show off the first official image of the film, which follows the titular, nasty couple The Twits (Mr. and Mrs. Twit), who play increasingly wicked practical jokes on each other to amuse themselves.
The caption read: "Here’s your first look at the first-ever adaptation based on Roald Dahl’s The Twits! Written & directed by Phil Johnston (Ralph Breaks the Internet), the film — about the world's smelliest, nastiest people and the two brave orphans who attempt to outwit them — premieres in 2025."

The film adds in two orphans, presumably in order to give the story a more structured plot and heroes to route for, whereas the book just follows the couple playing pranks on one another.
There are few other details of the project — no cast has been attached so far — but Johnston is beginning to make a name for himself as an animation filmmaker after directing Ralph Breaks the Internet and penning Wreck-It Ralph and Zootopia.
This is just one high-profile adaptation of Roald Dahl's works, however, as Netflix is bringing a number of Dahl books to life. Benedict Cumberbatch will star in Wes Anderson's The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, the trailer of which was released earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Timothée Chalamet will star as Willy Wonka in the new version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Wonka will be released later this year on December 15 and stars a host of great British actors including Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa and Olivia Colman as a villain.
Director Paul King explained that while the movie isn't exactly a musical, it does give Chalamet a chance to showcase his "beautiful singing voice."
"The person it reminded me of was Bing Crosby. There's quite a range, because it does go from a couple of bigger, showstopper-y sort of things, to moments of real, pure emotion and he can do it all… I'm going to sound like a crazed fan," the director said.
Wonka will be released in cinemas on December 15.
