Netflix renews Rob Lowe's show Unstable for season 2
Netflix has renewed Rob Lowe's workplace comedy Unstable for a second season.
The show follows a narcissistic father who works at a high-tech company and is struggling to cope with the loss of his wife, so his socially awkward son (played by Rob's real-life son John Owen Lowe) takes a job at the company to be close to his dad. Season 1 premiered in March this year.
The Hollywood Reporter states that the eight-episode second season will begin production later this month, and that's actually due to Lowe's 9-1-1: Lone Star being pushed back due to the strikes in Hollywood, which only recently came to an end.

In a statement, the father-son acting duo said: "It's a dream come true for us to jump back into the world of Unstable. Here's to season two and the many hours of family therapy that we will need along the way."
Not every recent Netflix show has been so lucky. In fact, the news of Unstable's renewal comes in the same week that the streaming giant announced the cancellations of Glamorous, Agent Elvis, Captain Fall, Farzar and Shadow and Bone.
It was reported that the strikes and the subsequent production delays, combined with the performance of the shows in relation to their costs, were the reasons for Netflix bringing down the axe.

Shadow and Bone's main cast, and the author of the books the show is based on, have responded to the cancellation, which will also mean that the planned spin-off Six of Crows is no longer going ahead.
Actor Ben Barnes, who played General Kirigan, said: "I was so excited to watch the brilliant, beautiful humans I love so much who made Shadow & Bone take this world, their characters and this story onwards. This part of the journey is sorrowful and I am so proud to have been a part of it."
Unstable season 1 can be streamed on Netflix now. 9-1-1: Lone Star airs on FOX and Hulu in the US and Sky Witness in the UK.
