Netflix releases first look at new SpongeBob SquarePants movie
Netflix has released a first look at the brand new SpongeBob SquarePants movie. Officially announcing the new movie with a promotional image, which they shared to Twitter, Netflix gave fans a first look at the film titled Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie.
In the image, Sandy the squirrel and SpongeBob appear to be riding clamshells out of the sea as they soar into the air.
Along with the image, Netflix captioned the post: "BIG NEWS: Sandy Cheeks is headed home to the prettiest place in the world in her very own movie! Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie is coming to Netflix in 2024!!!"

In a follow-up tweet, Netflix revealed more about the upcoming plot in which the squirrel from Texas will return to her home State to save the residents of Bikini Bottom.
"What's the film about? When Bikini Bottom and all its residents are suddenly scooped out of the ocean, Sandy Cheeks and SpongeBob SquarePants journey to Texas to save the town from a villainous plot," the tweet read.
The streamer also shared the news via Instagram captioning the same first-look image: "It's Sandy's time to shine, y'all."
"A new animated film coming to Netflix in 2024, follows Sandy Cheeks on a journey to save Bikini Bottom after its denizens are suddenly scooped out of the ocean," the caption continued.

In other Netflix news, the streaming service recently announced that the long-awaited sixth series of Black Mirror is officially returning.
Sharing a teaser trailer for its sixth season, Netflix announced that the next instalment of Charlie Brooker's anthology series will be arriving on the streaming service this June. The brand new teaser trailer gave fans a look at this season's cast including Aaron Paul, Ben Barnes, Michael Cera, Salma Hayek, Paapa Essiedu, Kate Mara, Rory Culkin and Annie Murphy.
