May 10—Netflix is making its mark in New Mexico.

On Friday, the New Mexico Film Office announced the Netflix series, "Pulse," is filming in New Mexico. The production marks the streaming giant's first procedural medical drama series.

The series tells the story of Miami's busiest Level 1 Trauma Center staff as they navigate medical emergencies.

Young ER doctor Danny Simms is unexpectedly promoted to chief resident amidst the fallout of her own provocative romantic relationship.

The series is set to star Willa Fitzgerald, Colin Woodell, Justina Machado, Jack Bannon, Jessie T. Usher, Chelsea Muirhead, Daniela Nieves, and Jessy Yates.

"We are thrilled to announce another Netflix series that will be made right here in New Mexico," said Amber Dodson, New Mexico Film Office director. "Netflix is a New Mexico film partner, having made a decade-long commitment to invest in production, infrastructure, and job creation. Series such as 'Pulse' create positive economic impact and opportunities for residents and businesses statewide while featuring our landscapes to a global audience."

"Pulse" joins the Netflix series "Ransom Canyon," which is also filming in the state.

According to the NM Film Office, the series will film in and around Albuquerque through August. It is expected to have 10 episodes and production will employ over 200 New Mexicans — 200 crew members and 30 background talent.

The series is produced by Zoe Robyn, Carlton Cuse, Kate Dennis, Bradley Gardner, Emma Forman, and Michael Klick with Dennis, Sarah Boyd, SJ Main Muñoz, Wendey Stanzler.

Cuse is set to direct.

—Colin Woodell as Xander Phillips: Xander makes up the other half of the romance that's lighting up the ER. Hailing from one of Miami's most powerful medical families, Xander is the highly confident, respected, and charismatic chief resident of emergency medicine who nevertheless gets caught up in the Maguire drama.

—Chelsea Muirhead as Sophie Chen: A surgical intern, Sophie is smart, capable, and willing to endure anything in her quest to become a great surgeon.

—Daniela Nieves as Camila Perez: Camila is a third-year medical student who, despite long hours and an endless workload, always manages to stay optimistic.

—Santiago Segura as Gabriel Moreno: Gabriel is an ER nurse who is a highly competent team player — but not always easy to impress.

—Jessica Rothe as Cass Himmelstein: A charismatic and charming senior ER nurse, Cass knows what she wants for her life and has a plan to get it.

—Néstor Carbonell as Dr. Ruben Soriano: A respected and sometimes feared senior surgeon, Ruben's commitment and passion have led him to prioritize his job above all else, and he's as demanding of his residents as he is of himself.

—Arturo Del Puerto as Luis Dominguez: The ER's Charge Nurse, Luis is unflappable amidst the chaos without sacrificing his signature wit and is beloved among his staff.

—Ash Santos as Nia Washington: Nia is a confident and scrappy Miami-Dade County EMT from a large, close-knit family.
