New neighborhood pub planned in Kennewick + Specialty bakery opens its own storefront

The home of a longtime Tri-Cities shoe store is going to see a radical transformation.

David’s Shoes closed last summer after decades serving the Tri-Cities. The shop at the corner of North Benton Street and West Kennewick Avenue has been vacant since, but now workers are inside beginning to create something new.

David’s Shoes served the Tri-Cities since the 1950s, and was sold to new owners in 2021, according to the Tri-Cities Journal of Business.

A demolition permit was recently filed with the city to tear out the interior of the shop.

Paperwork indicates the site is going to be turned into a bar, called Blackthorne Neighborhood Pub.

Cake shop

After five years of hard work, a bakery has moved from the Pasco Specialty Kitchen to a storefront of its own.

Delicakes by Angela is moving into Highlands Shopping Center in the old home of the Kennewick Baskin-Robbins. The ice cream shop moved down the street to a new building with Bruchi’s CheeseSteaks last year.

Delicakes offers fun, custom cakes with dozens of designs, from Spider-Man to horned unicorn cakes and everything in between.

Speaking of Baskin-Robbins, the Pasco location will be moving a few blocks down.

Demolition recently began at 1840 W. Court Street for a second Bruchi’s and Baskin-Robbins location. The ice cream shop’s old Pasco location at 2307 W. Court Street was torn down to make way for a new Numerica Credit Union.
