NCIS star Michael Weatherly has revealed the name of his upcoming spin-off with Cote de Pablo.

It was announced earlier this year that the actors, who play Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David on the flagship series, would reunite for a 10-episode show set in Europe.

With filming set to begin in Budapest later this year, the duo took to Zoom on Tuesday (May 7) to unveil the series' anticipated title, which was later posted to the official Paramount+ Instagram account.

Titles that had been considered included NCIS: Europe and NCIS: Trust No One, but the official title will be NCIS: Tony & Ziva.

"It makes it really easy because the fans will know exactly what the show is. It's about Tony and Ziva in Europe," de Pablo explained.

According to the show's official synopsis, Tony, Ziva and their daughter Tali are forced to go on the run across the continent after Tony's security firm is attacked.

They must learn to trust each other again so they "finally have their unconventional happily ever after", all while trying to uncover who was responsible for the attack.

Ziva and Tony were last seen reuniting in Paris during season 17. Ziva was previously thought to have been killed off following de Pablo's exit in 2013, before the character unexpectedly returned in season 16.

Weatherly and de Pablo will also executive produce the new series, with John McNamara serving as showrunner.

"We've been talking about this story for many years, and now with John MacNamara at the helm, we are ready," said the lead actors following the show's announcement.

"The world of Tony and Ziva promises to be an action-packed rollercoaster fuelled by love, danger, tears and laughter."

"We also want to acknowledge and thank fans from around the world who supported the 'TIVA' movement for years. To this day, they say hello in grocery stores and on the street to tell us how much these characters mean to them and ask what Tony and Ziva are up to now. This is for you."

McNamara previously teased the title of the series, adding: "Given that the franchise is such a global sensation, I think it's phenomenal that CBS Studios and Paramount+ have given us the green light to shoot in Europe. As to the title of this series, if I told you what it is, I'd be violating the Espionage Act."

NCIS airs on CBS in the US. Seasons 1-20 are streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
