These NC restaurants rank among most romantic in US — again. What makes them special?
Two of the best restaurants for a romantic night out can be found in North Carolina, new rankings show.
Green Valley Grill and Print Works Bistro, both in Greensboro, made it onto a national list of the best places to go for a date, according to results published ahead of Valentine’s Day.
To create the rankings, the restaurant reservation website OpenTable studied more than 13 million reviews that U.S. customers left from December 2021 to November 2022. The website said it considered “unique data points, such as overall diner rating, user klout, total number of reviews, and regional overall rating.”
“Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of reviews, for which ‘romantic’ was selected as a special feature,” OpenTable wrote in its Jan. 30 report.
Of the 100 restaurants that earned spots on the list, the two Greensboro eateries were the only places in North Carolina. The dining spots — which are part of the same restaurant group — are accustomed to receiving praise.
In August, both restaurants were among three recognized on a separate OpenTable list of the nation’s best places for a date, which considered customer reviews from a different time frame. The restaurants also have been named top outdoor dining destinations, McClatchy News reported.
What makes the two restaurants special?
Green Valley Grill said it focuses on dishes with “Old World European and Mediterranean flavors,” and several OpenTable users couldn’t get enough of the food. Others said they experienced charming ambiance and first-class customer service, helping the restaurant earn more than four out of five stars.
About a half-mile down Green Valley Road in Greensboro, customers raved about the French-inspired cuisine at Print Works Bistro, which also exceeded four stars. Some fans took to OpenTable to say they enjoyed eating steak, seafood and other date-night favorites in a top-notch atmosphere.
The rankings come as OpenTable data shows people are expected to flock to restaurants and spend big for Valentine’s Day.
“Over the 2022 holiday season and into January, dining exceeded pre-pandemic levels — we anticipate this trend to continue through Valentine’s Day,” John Tsou, vice president of marketing, said in a news release.
OpenTable, which didn’t organize its list of most romantic places to eat in a ranking order, said the state with the highest number of date-worthy restaurants was California, which boasted 13.
