Nearly two months before NBA free agency began, The Athletic reported that Zion Williamson has family members who want him out of New Orleans. Those rumors will only get louder over the next few weeks because of the Pelicans’ recent moves.

On Tuesday, the Pelicans agreed to send Lonzo Ball to the Chicago Bulls in a sign-and-trade. They received Tomas Satoransky, Garrett Temple and a second-round pick in return for Ball.

New Orleans had its sights set on Kyle Lowry and Chris Paul since they were the top point guards on the market. Unfortunately for the Pelicans, they missed out on both of them.

Although the front office did land Devonte’ Graham in a sign-and-trade with the Charlotte Hornets, the NBA world doubts Williamson will be pleased with the team’s recent moves.

Bill Simmons of The Ringer shared an agent’s take on Williamson’s situation.

The Pelicans have totally mangled the last two years and are fully on course to lose Zion some day, agent John Koktostin of CAA tells The Ringer,” Simmons tweeted.

Skip Bayless of Fox Sports is also losing faith in New Orleans’ ability to build a winning team around Williamson.

“I thought he [Ball] and Zion were made for each other,” Bayless said. “Apparently David Griffin felt otherwise. I’m starting to wonder about David Griffin.”

The Pelicans are under a tremendous amount of pressure to keep Williamson happy. If he doesn’t have faith in the front office, that could spell trouble for his future with the franchise.

Luckily for New Orleans, there’s still time this offseason for David Griffin to pull off a significant trade or signing.
