NBA World Reacts To Zion Williamson Injury News
New Orleans Pelicans Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin announced today morning that star forward Zion Williamson received offseason foot surgery and is out for the time being. While Griffin said that Williamson should be good to start the season, not everyone is convinced.
Injuries have been an issue for Williamson in each of his first two seasons with the team. He suffered a torn meniscus before his rookie season that limited him to 24 games that year, and has missed games on several other occasions.
When healthy though, Williamson plays as well as he was advertised to when he was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. But staying healthy has been easier said than done.
So when Griffin made his announcement today, NBA fans quickly smashed the panic button. Many believe that Zion won’t last much longer in the NBA if he keeps picking up big injuries:

Zion Williamson was the most hyped prospect since Anthony Davis coming out of Duke in 2019. As a college freshman he won every major accolade in the country as the Blue Devils won the ACC title and reached the Elite Eight.
His rookie season, he averaged 22.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. For his efforts, he earned All-Rookie Team honors.
The following year, he got his first All-Star Game nod and averaged 27 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
