NBA prospect Eric Dailey Jr. includes Kansas, Kentucky on list of prospective schools

Eric Dailey Jr.. a 6-foot-7, 225-pound senior basketball forward from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, on Monday narrowed his list of prospective colleges to eight.

They are: KU, Kentucky, Michigan, Memphis, Florida State, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and TCU. He also is considering skipping college to play pro basketball.

Dailey, who was born in South Carolina, is ranked No, 43 in the recruiting Class of 2023 by ESPN.com, No. 54 by 247sports.com and No. 70 by Rivals.com.

“He has an elite level, pro-style skill set.His calling cards are his physicality and versatility. He’s also eligible for the 2023 NBA Draft,” a reporter from Independent Hoops wrote Monday on Twitter.

Dailey’s mom, Shell, played basketball at Texas and coached the WNBA San Antonio Silver Stars in 2003 and 2004. She was an assistant coach at South Carolina and Texas A&M and for the ABL’s Nashville Noise. Dailey’s dad, Eric, played basketball at TCU and professionally in Spain.

“Most coaches are saying they like my game and want to develop me to be that NBA guard and be prepared for the next level. More will come as I build relationships with these schools,” he told On3.com.

Gertrude to announce Wednesday

Elijah Gertrude, a 6-4, 180-pound senior combo guard from Hudson (New Jersey) Catholic, who is ranked No. 107 in the recruiting Class of 2023 by 247sports.com and No, 112 by Rivals.com told On3.com he will announce his college choice on Wednesday at 3 p.m., Central time.

He has a final five of KU, Virginia, Seton Hall, St. John’s, and Rutgers. On3.com says he has canceled visits to KU, Rutgers and Seton Hall lending many to believe Virginia or St. John’s are the leaders. He made official visits to both schools.

Gertrude averaged 11.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game for City Rocks (N.Y.) on the EYBL Circuit this past spring and summer. He hit 55% of his shots including 43.0% from three.

KU recruiting two from Montverde

KU coaches are planning on visiting two juniors from Montverde (Florida) Academy during the current open recruiting period (Sept. 9 to Nov. 7).

They are: Curtis Givens, a 6-2 junior point guard who is ranked No. 56 in the recruiting Class of 2024 by ESPN.com, No. 67 by 247sports.com and No. 89 by Rivals.com and Asa Newell, a 6-9, 200-pound junior forward who is ranked No. 19 by Rivals.com, No. 23 by ESPN.com and No. 34 by 247sports.com.

Givens is considering Kansas, Missouri, Florida State, LSU, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Xavier, Arkansas, and Iowa State. Newell is considering KU, Missouri, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Arkansas, Florida State, Virginia, Alabama, Auburn, and Indiana.
