NBA Insider Has Telling Comment On Chris Paul’s Basketball Future

Chris Paul could opt out of his $44.2 million option for the 2021-22 season, but that doesn’t mean he won’t return to the Phoenix Suns.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, the Suns are expected to sign Paul to a three-year contract worth roughly $90 million. The exact terms of this contract aren’t available since a deal hasn’t been finalized yet.

“The biggest fish, Chris Paul, appears all but destined to return to Phoenix, sources said, on a deal that’s now widely rumored to be for at least three years, $90 million,” Fischer wrote, via Bleacher Report.

Paul was reportedly on the New Orleans Pelicans’ radar, but all signs point to him returning to the Suns.

Following the Suns’ heartbreaking loss to the Bucks in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, Paul made it clear that he’s not ready to retire just yet.

“It will take a while to process this or whatnot, but it’s same mentality,” Paul said. “Get back to work. I ain’t retiring, if that’s what you’re asking. That’s out. So, back to work.”

Paul was sensational in his first season with the Suns, averaging 16.4 points, 8.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game. He found a way to maximize his supporting cast’s potential and get the best out of young players like Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson.

As long as Paul stays healthy, Phoenix should be considered a title contender.
