The Camping World stores in Garden City appear to be closing for good.

The national retailer sold recreational vehicles and camper trailers at its dealership at 4911 Chinden Blvd. and ran a maintenance shop at 5309 Chinden Blvd. Both locations are closing permanently on Friday, according to an employee at the dealership, who declined to give their name.

The employee said the dealership in Garden City wasn’t doing as well as the company’s other locations in the area, and that many of the workers would be transferred to the other Treasure Valley sites. Camping World has other dealerships in Caldwell and Meridian.

A customer service representative for the company confirmed the closure when reached by phone. A marketing employee did not return a phone call inquiring about the closure.

The two Garden City locations no longer show up on Camping World’s store locator.

Camping World bought the Garden City and Caldwell stores from Nelson’s RVs in 2017. The Nelson family had operated the business for over 33 years, according to previous reporting by the Idaho Statesman, which said the three stores employed about 75 people at the time.

Camping World has two other dealerships in the state, in Pocatello and Idaho Falls.
