New national restaurants coming to Fresno marketplace. One serves meals, the other dessert

Northwest Fresno is getting two new national eateries.

Crumbl Cookies will be the first to open, followed by restaurant Teriyaki Madness. Both will be in the Marketplace at El Paseo, the shopping center near Highway 99 and Herndon Avenue anchored by Target.

Both are franchises that are locally or regionally owned, and have locations across the country.

They’re the latest companies to join the shopping center, which also has several other new businesses in the works. Keep reading to see who else is coming, including big names in coffee and chicken.

Crumbl Cookies

Crumbl will be in the stretch of businesses along Herndon, between McDonald’s and Olive Garden.

It’s a bakery specializing in giant cookies.

Costing about $4 each, the cookies easily feed two people. Perhaps its most recognizable cookie is its soft sugar cookie with pink frosting.

Its chocolate chip cookie is always on the menu. From there, it rotates flavors weekly, including churro, key lime pie, a chocolate version of cookies and cream, and blueberry muffin.

Owner Nancy Tilby said she is shooting to open the location in late February or early March.

It will be the third Crumbl Cookies in the area. Bakeries are already open at Herndon and Fowler avenues in Clovis, and another in the Villaggio shopping center at the southwest corner of Blackstone and Nees avenues.

It joins another cookie seller in the shopping center, locally owned Crave Cookie.

The company, which opened this location in 2021, sells giant warm cookies and drinks and has a drive-thru.

Teriyaki Madness

Teriyaki Madness, a fast-casual Asian grill, is planning a location in El Paseo.

It serves bowls with chicken, steak, salmon or tofu, and vegetables atop rice or yakisoba noodles.

There are 12 bowls on the menu, including five different types of chicken. There are also appetizers like edamame, crab Rangoon, egg rolls and pot stickers.

The food is made when a customer orders.

Teriyaki Madness has more than 120 restaurants nationwide and is expanding to more locations. It’s also looking for more spots to open in the Fresno-Clovis area.

The restaurant will be in a new building that’s in the works in front of the theater, near Riverside Drive, according to the retail broker handling the center. Construction is expected to happen this summer.

If all goes as planned, the franchisee hopes to be open by the end the year.

What other restaurants are coming to El Paseo?

A few more businesses are coming to El Paseo, but it could be a while before they open.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is expected to break ground on a restaurant near Herndon Avenue this summer.

Dutch Bros Coffee is slated to open in a spot between Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Mattress Firm.

Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop is also slated to open in a new building in front of the theater.

My Tea Corner is headed to a spot near the theater, next to Round Table Pizza.

One restaurant also recently left the center. Greek restaurant Daphne’s, located on the northern end of the center and opening in late 2021, was evicted.
