Here is who national experts are predicting will win KC Chiefs-Seattle Seahawks game

From 1977 through 2001, the Seattle Seahawks traveled to Arrowhead Stadium once a season. That’s because Seattle was in the AFC West before moving to the NFC at the start of the 2002 season.

Since then, the Seahawks have been back to Kansas City just twice: in 2006 and 2014. Both times they went back to the Pacific Northwest having lost to the Chiefs.

The Seahawks, 7-7, will be back at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday for what will be one of the coldest games in Chiefs history.

Here is who 55 national experts are predicting will win the game, which kicks off at noon and will air on WDAF-TV (Ch. 4). Fox Sports’ Kevin Kugler and Mark Sanchez will be on the call.

A 38-30 Chiefs win is the prediction from NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal. This is what he wrote: “I fear for the Seahawks’ defense. The unit, with its lackluster pass rush and suspect secondary, is set to get cooked by Patrick Mahomes at the peak of his powers, with his second MVP in sight. Fortunately for Seattle, Geno Smith’s dream season can get back on track against a Chiefs defense that’s had its own issues consistently rushing the passer and is showing its inexperience on the back end.”

All three writers at Pro Football Network took the Chiefs: Adam Beasley (29-21 final score), Dallas Robinson (34-24) and Dalton Miller (34-28). This is part of what Beasley wrote: “Seattle isn’t desperate yet, but they do find themselves on the outside looking in at the NFC playoff race. After looking like a shoo-in for the playoffs, they’ve lost four of their last five games, with their defense being the main culprit along the way. That’s bad news considering who they face on Saturday. The Chiefs have the best offense in the NFL, and it’s not particularly close. Patrick Mahomes is still the best player on the planet, and Travis Kelce is about as reliable as a Toyota Hilux.”

The Chiefs were the pick for the writers at Pro Football Talk. Michael David Smith called a 34-21 score. He wrote: “The Seahawks and Geno Smith were a great story early this season, but the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes will deliver a big blow to their diminishing playoff hopes.” Mike Florio sees a 31-20 score. He wrote: “It’s another AFC West reunion, and the team that owns the AFC West should remind Seattle why they should be glad that they got out when they did.”

Seven of the eight writers at CBS Sports have the Chiefs winning: Jason LaCanfora, Pete Prisco, Jared Dubin, Will Brinson, John Breech, Ryan Wilson and Jamey Eisenberg. Choosing Seattle: Dave Richard. Prisco predicted a 35-21 final. Here is part of what he wrote: “The Chiefs are winning games, but they have looked off the past few weeks. Seattle has also struggled the past few games. This is a must-win for them, but this is a tough place to play. Their defense has major issues, which will show up here as Patrick Mahomes lights them up.”

All nine Athletic writers picked the Chiefs to win: Zack Berman, Larry Holder, Mark Kaboly, Josh Kendall, Nick Kosminder, Austin Mock, Jay Morrison, Tashan Reed and Ben Standig. The Athletic writers wrote: “The Chiefs will look to use Saturday’s game against Seattle to improve their chances at a first-round bye, while a Seahawks win would increase their chances of playing their way into the postseason. Kansas City is a double-digit favorite at home.”

A 34-26 Chiefs victory is the forecast from Bill Bender of the Sporting News. This is a snippet of his story: “Kansas City is happy to be back at home after a three-game road stint – and they keep pace in the race for home-field advantage in the AFC. The Chiefs are just 4-10 ATS this year with just one cover at home.”

The five Audacy writers think the Chiefs will win.

Picking the Chiefs were the six USA Today writers: Jarrett Bell (30-22 final score), Chris Bumbaca (31-23), Nate Davis (33-20), Safid Deen (30-21), Tyler Dragon (30-21) and Lorenzo Reyes (24-23).

The 10 members of the Dallas Morning-News picked the Chiefs: Tim Cowlishaw, Michael Gehlken, Craig Miller, Newy Scruggs, Jean-Jacques Taylor, Calvin Watkins, Dana Larson, Damon Marx, David Moore and Kevin Sherrington.

All five Sports Illustrated writers went with the Chiefs: Conor Orr, Gary Grammling, John Pluym, Albert Breer and Mitch Goldich.

The five experts at ESPN picked the Chiefs: Matt Bowen, Mike Clay, Dan Graziano, Laura Rutledge and Seth Wickersham.
