Here is who national experts are predicting will win KC Chiefs-Chicago Bears game

The Chiefs quietly set a league record last Sunday.

According to NFL writer Scott Kacsmar, the Chiefs have played 35 straight games without losing by 4 or more points. That apparently includes postseason games, which makes the streak even more impressive.

The last time the Chiefs lost by more than 4 points was Oct. 24, 2021 when they were beaten 21-3 by the Tennessee Titans.

The statistic is worth noting because nearly every national NFL pundit thinks the Chiefs will extend that streak Sunday with a victory over the Chicago Bears.

While many aren’t certain the Chiefs will cover the spread, here is who 72 national experts are predicting will win the game, which kicks off at 3:25 p.m. and airs on Fox (WDAF Ch. 4 in KC).

A Chiefs victory is the pick for all five NFL.com writers: Ali Bhanpuri (31-21 final score), Tom Blair (31-17), Brooke Cersosimo (28-20), Gennaro Filice (31-13) and Dan Parr (34-20). Here is a snippet of what Filice wrote: “It’s Justin Fields’ fault. Luke Getsy’s to blame. What about the defense? A lot of finger-pointing going on among Chicago sports fans right now, as they grapple with the team’s demoralizing start and the young QB’s early struggles. Up next: a date with the reigning Super Bowl champs at Arrowhead. Not great, right? Actually, I think the Chiefs are sneakily the perfect opponent at the perfect moment for the Bears — and more importantly, their third-year passer. The odds are literally stacked against him. Expectations have bottomed out. But with the bulk of that weight off his shoulders, I think we finally see a freer, looser and less apprehensive Fields.”

A 32-17 Chiefs victory is the prediction from the Arizona Republic’s Jeremy Cluff. He wrote: “The Bears represent a perfect chance for the Chiefs to get rolling on offense at home. And roll Patrick Mahomes and company will.”

The Chiefs will prevail, say all dozen writers at the Athletic: Chad Graff, Tashan Reed, Michael-Shawn Dugar, Ben Standi, Zack Rosenblatt, Josh Kendall, Zak Keefer, Austin Mock, Nick Kosmider, Zac Jackson, Larry Holder and Mark Kaboly. This is from the story: “The win in Jacksonville wasn’t always pretty for Kansas City. The team lost two fumbles, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw an interception, losing the turnover battle to the Jaguars 3-1. The Chiefs defense didn’t allow a touchdown to Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville offense. ... As Kelce ramps back up to 100 percent health after a knee injury that kept him out of Week 1, the duo will look to keep eating against a Bears secondary that’s allowed 562 passing yards through two games.”

The Chiefs are the choice for five of six Chicago Sun-Times writers: Rick Morrissey (38-17), Rick Telander (42-21), Patrick Finley (32-14), Jason Lieser (34-16) and Mark Potash (31-17). Picking the Bears: Scoop Jackson (28-20). This is what Potash wrote: “The Bears are on tilt, but that’s just life at Halas Hall and will have no impact on the game. Their biggest problem is that they just aren’t very good. And the Chiefs are, even while just warming up.”

A 31-15 Chiefs victory is the pick from Bill Bender of the Sporting News. This is from his story: “Kansas City averages 18.5 points per game through two weeks, but the Bears have struggled with turnovers and they are facing Patrick Mahomes II at the wrong time. Look for the Chiefs to pull away in the second half, where the Bears have been outscored 42-21 through two weeks.”

The Chiefs are the pick for all three Chicago Tribune writers: Brad Biggs (35-10), Colleen Kane (28-20) and Dan Wiederer (34-13). Here is an excerpt of what Kane wrote: “This Bears defense allowed Packers quarterback Jordan Love to throw three touchdown passes and the Baker Mayfield-led Buccaneers to put up 437 yards of offense. And now it faces Patrick Mahomes? An 0-3 start seems to be on the horizon.”

All eight writers at CBS Sports see the Chiefs winning: Pete Prisco, Will Brinson, Jared Dubin, Dave Richard, Ryan Wilson, John Breech, Tyler Sullivan and Jamey Eisenberg. Prisco predicts a 30-13 final. This is an excerpt from his story: “The Bears are playing consecutive road games and haven’t looked good in either of their two losses. The Chiefs haven’t looked dynamic on offense yet, but this is the game to fix that.”

The seven experts at Sports Illustrated went with the Chiefs: Albert Breer, Mitch Goldich, Gilberto Manzano, Conor Orr, Matt Verderame, Claire Kuwana and John Pluym.

The Chiefs will win, say Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio (34-20 final score) and Chris Simms (31-17).

The nine experts at ESPN see the Chiefs winning: Matt Bowen, Mike Clay, Jeremy Fowler, Dan Graziano, Kimberly Martin, Moses Moody, Jason Reid, Lindsey Thiry and Seth Wickersham.

Picking the Chiefs to win are the eight USA Today writers: Jarrett Bell (27-16), Chris Bumbaca (34-20), Nate Davis (27-16), Safid Deen (27-13), Tyler Dragon (27-16), Victoria Hernandez (24-20), Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz (27-13) and Lorenzo Reyes (29-9).

The 10 members of the Dallas Morning-News picked the Chiefs: Tim Cowlishaw, Michael Gehlken, Craig Miller, Newy Scruggs, Joey Hayden, Calvin Watkins, Dana Larson, Damon Marx, David Moore and Kevin Sherrington.
