National Donut Day 2022: How to score free donuts from Dunkin, Krispy Kreme, and other chains
Free donut (or doughnut, whichever you prefer) to sweeten up your Friday? Absolutely.
June 3rd marks National Doughnut Day, and major food chains are offering some sweet deals to this already shortened week. Here's how to score 'em:
Dunkin'
At participating Dunkin' locations, customers can receive a free classic donut of their choice with the purchase of any beverage, while supplies last.
While Dunkin' didn't say how many donuts it expects to give out for the holiday, the chain sells more than 2 billion donuts and Munchkins each year.

Krispy Kreme
At Krispy Kreme, customers can receive one free doughnut of their choice, no purchase necessary. In addition, customers who buy a dozen donuts can receive a dozen Original Glazed for $1.
Kreme CEOMike Tattersfield told Yahoo Finance in February that holidays are a key way for the company to beat inflation and draw in crowds. He said customers view the brand as a go-to for "celebratory occasions" a few times a year. That allows the company to score big on annual events like Halloween and Valentine's Day, rather than "daily ritual" visits, providing the company with "pricing power."
7-Eleven, Speedway, Stripes
All 7Rewards and Speedy rewards members can access a "buy one, get one free donut deal" on the company's app. The offer is only available in-store through June 5th at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes stores.
According to the company, 7-Eleven donuts are "light, fluffy and topped with a sugary glaze to sweeten your day." And hey, according to the company's Twitter account, its donuts may not only be for consuming:

Tim Hortons
Canada-headquartered donut chain Tim Hortons (QSR) extended the holiday all week long. Until June 5th, when Tim Hortons Rewards Members buy a donut in the app or online, they will receive a free donut with their next purchase.
Shopping local
If you're looking to shop local, Yelp (YELP) wants to help.
The review company has curated a a list of the Top 100 Donut Shops in the United States. Some top bakers to make the list include Round Rock Donuts near Austin, Texas, SK Donuts & Croissant in Los Angeles, Glazed Over Donuts in Beacon, New York. In addition, Yelp is giving away free donuts in 16 communities across the nation.
While you're enjoying your freebies, keep in mind the holiday's sweet history: National Donut Day was established in 1938 by The Salvation Army to honor the organization's "donut lassies," who delivered donuts and other sweet treats on the front lines to thousands of soldiers during WWI in an attempt to boost spirits and morale.
