Nati SC is back and will face teams led by Pat McAfee, J.J. Watt at 2024 'TST'

Nati SC is back for the 2024 edition of The Soccer Tournament, or "TST," and they'll be tasked with emerging from group play against high-profile opponents.

Nati SC will face "The Concafa SC, which is a production of ESPN talk show host Pat McAfee, and Burnley FC, which will carry the flag for the brand of the English soccer club of which former NFL star J.J. Watt owns a stake.

The "Concafa SC" name is a play on McAfee's on-air misinterpretation of the "CONCACAF" acronym. CONCACAF is FIFA's governing body for soccer in North and Central America, and the Caribbean. CONCACAF also stages the Champions Cup, which FC Cincinnati participated in this year.

The 2024 TST will be staged June 5-10 in Cary, North Carolina, and will see two $1 million prizes awarded.

Nati SC, which constitutes FC Cincinnati's presence in the tournament boasting participation from some of the biggest soccer clubs and brands in the world, is again comprised of some of the club's biggest former stars, plus Cincinnati Bengals legend, Chad "OchoCinco" Johnson.

Nati SC will be coached by Cincinnati native and Saint Ursula Academy alum, Tori Huster, the current president of the National Women's Soccer League Players Association (NWSLPA). Her inclusion as coach may invite some questions about interest in bringing the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) to the Cincinnati region.

In 2023, Nati SC was led by former MLS Cup champion and fan-favorite Omar Cummings. Cummings played for FC Cincinnati during its days as a third-tier and second-tier United Soccer League club in 2016 and 2017 and remains involved with the FCC's radio broadcasts as well as the community outreach arm of the club.

The Enquirer will update this story.
