Goalie Juuse Saros pulled in Nashville Predators' 6-3 loss to Flames

Six goals were scored in the first period Thursday — two for the Nashville Predators and four for the Calgary Flames.

Predators goalie Juuse Saros was pulled after two periods after allowing five goals on 26 shots.

Filip Forsberg was named an All-Star for the second time.

Philip Tomasino was ejected for a questionable slew-foot penalty.

The Predators lost 6-3.

Coming off a victory Tuesday against Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks, the Predators were looking for their third win in a row when they faced the Flames in their second game back from Christmas break.

The Flames had other ideas.

Connor Zary, Blake Coleman, Nazem Kadri and Ramus Andersson outdid Forsberg and Colton Sissons during the first, and the Flames’ Noah Hanifin scored with 0.2 seconds left in the second to give the visitors a 5-2 advantage.

Saros, who earned his second shutout of the season Tuesday when Bedard was held to zero shots on goal, was pulled after two periods.

Tomasino's collision with the Flames' Dennis Gilbert, who lay motionless on the ice for a few moments and left the ice with help, resulted in a questionable slew-foot penalty that resulted in Tomasino's ejection late in the third.

The Predators (21-17-1) occupy the top wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

The Flames are 17-16-5 and now have won three in a row.
