NASCAR Texas predictions 2024: Expert picks for Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway

The NASCAR Cup Series 2024 season heads to Texas Motor Speedway for the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 on Sunday.

The overall quality of racing in recent seasons at Texas has been up and down. William Byron won last year's race at the track.

Byron has been the best driver in 2024 to this point, with three wins in eight races. Byron has won at a superspeedway track, a road course and a short track. What he has yet to do in 2024 is win at an intermediate track.

Mike Organ's pick: Kyle Larson, No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet

Kyle Larson has done a good job of staying in the hunt in most to the 2024 season races. He's scored a series-best 94 stage points and has momentum after winning the pole at Martinsville and finishing second behind Hendricks Motorsports teammate William Byron. Larson won at Texas Motor Speedway in 2021 and will become only the second driver to win there twice in that last eight races on Sunday.

Tom Kreager's pick: Kyle Busch, No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet

OK, I may have predicted Kyle Busch to go winless in 2024. But maybe this is the week he proves me wrong. If he can catch a couple breaks, history says he should compete well at Texas. He's had four wins and 14 top-5 finishes. But here's the problem: He's had back-to-back DNFs at the track. Like I said, he's going to need a couple breaks.

Nick Gray's pick: William Byron, No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet

Byron is the defending race winner and is coming off of a win at Martinsville last week. A win at Texas will start the talk of an all-timer season for Byron. Four wins in nine races? That'll do. A double-digit win season has been a rarity in modern NASCAR, but Byron can do it in 2024.
