Her 11th studio album also mentioned numerous names, most of which don't seem to be of any direct correlation to Swift, or at least she wants us to believe.

In preparation for her album, Swift partnered with Threads and Instagram (both a part of Meta) to create a countdown to midnight for her initial album drop. However, after midnight passed, the countdown refreshed to a 2 a.m. ET countdown, which revealed additional songs once the clock struck.

Here are the names referenced on Swift's newest album:

Here’s what Swifties have speculated online so far

Following the release of "The Tortured Poet's Department," Swifties were quick to post their theories about the album and its name drops online.

In the album's title track, Swift sings, "Sometimes, I wonder if you're gonna screw this up with me. But you told Lucy you'd kill yourself if I ever leave and I had said that to Jack about you, so I felt seen."

Fans theorize that the Lucy mentioned, is Lucy Dacus of Grammy Award winning group, Boygenius.

Dacus and Swift have frequently been photographed together and in May 2023, Dacus' bandmate, Phoebe Bridgers served as the opening act during Swift's "Era's" tour stops in Nashville.

But, like most things in the Swift universe, there are multiple layers.

Fans believe that the track is about Matt Healy, who had a short lived romance with Swift back in 2023. Additionally, Healy and Dacus had a somewhat heated exchange on X.

Who are Patti Smith and Dylan Thomas? And what's the connection to the Chelsea Hotel?

The title track of Taylor Swift’s 11th era album mentions two literary legends and one famous New York City hotel.

“I laughed in your face and said, ‘You’re not Dylan Thomas. I’m not Patti Smith. This ain’t the Chelsea Hotel. We’re modern idiots," sings Swift in, "The Tortured Poets Department."

So who are the two? And what is the significance of the Chelsea Hotel?

Dylan Thomas is a Welsh poet and writer famous for "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night,” “Under Milk Wood” and “Fern Hill.” Thomas was born in 1914 and died in 1953. Patti Smith is a famous poet, author, songwriter, singer and painter born in 1947. Her Instagram bio reads, “Writer. We are all alive together.” Smith is still an active writer.

The Chelsea Hotel is in Manhattan. Built in the late 19th century, the 12-story hotel is a New York designated landmark that has famously housed writers, painters, authors and the who’s who of fashionable socialites. And still does.

Both Smith and Thomas lived in the hotel. According to John Brinnin's 1955 biography, “Dylan Thomas in America,” Thomas was reputed to be a "roistering, drunken and doomed poet." Smith went on to produce albums and tour the world. She sang and performed with Bruce Springsteen.

Taylor Swift references Kim Kardashian feud in 'thanK you aIMee' and 'Cassandra'

Swift references her feud with Kim Kardashian in different two tracks of, 'Tortured Poets Department.'

In "ThanK you aIMee," Swift sings about a mean schoolgirl.

"All that time you were throwin' punches, I was buildin' somethin'. And I can't forgive the way you made me feel, screamed "[expletive] you, Aimee" to the night sky, as the blood was gushin'. But I can't forget the way you made me heal."

However, the capitalized letters in the song title, spell out Kim. Kim Kardashian became involved in a feud with Swift back in 2016 when her then husband, Kanye West, released the song "Famous," which featured a lyric about him being the reason behind Swift's fame.

Swift denied that she approved of the lyric at the time, and Kardashian leaked an edited, recorded phone call between the artists on social media that led the public to believe the opposite. Kardashian also famously referred to Swift with a snake emoji, of which there are several mentions of snakes on "Cassandra."

"I wrote a thousand songs that you find uncool, I built a legacy which you can't undo," sings Swift in the third verse. But when I count the scars, there's a moment of truth, that there wouldn't be this, if there hadn't been you."

It's believed that the infamous phone call led to Swift's "Reputation," era.

Taylor Swift sings about romance with Travis Kelce in 'So High School'

The song "High School," is the latest development in the Swift and Travis Kelce saga.

"You know how to ball, I know Aristotle, brand new, full throttle," Swift sings on track 22. "Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto. It's true, swear, scouts honor. You knew what you wanted, and, boy, you got her."

The pair have been inseparable since their first public appearance in September 2023, when Swift traveled to support the Kansas City Chiefs tight end at a home game at Missouri's Arrowhead Stadium.

Since then, Swift has been in the stands cheering on Kelce at a handful of games, including the Super Bowl. Kelce has also been in the crowd at a number of "Eras" tour stops, including Argentina, Australia and Singapore.

"Are you gonna marry, kiss or kill me? Kill me. It's just a game, but really, really, I'm betting on all three for us two," Swift sings.

The lyric is a nod to a resurfaced video of Kelce being asked to play, "Kill, marry, kiss" with Swift, Katy Perry and Ariana Grande by The Messenger. He said that he would marry Katy Perry, kiss Swift and reluctantly give Grande the ax.
