Myrtle Beach-area chefs and Conway farm to be featured on national food television show

Production crews were at the scene of a Conway farm Tuesday to film a coming episode of a national food television show.

Public television’s Emmy Award-winning “Movable Feast with Relish” will feature known Myrtle Beach-area chefs Heidi Vukov, of Hook and Barrel, and Adam Kirby, of Bistro 217, joined by host Alex Thomopoulos, known for her roles on other national series including Food Network’s “Ultimate Summer Cook-off.”

Hosts of the series “team up with the world’s most innovative chefs, known for their use of fresh regional ingredients, to create spontaneous delicious feasts in unique settings for friends and family that will inspire home cooks everywhere,” the show’s website states.

The ninth season will begin airing this fall across all PBS networks. The Myrtle Beach episode will premiere Jan. 7, according to Olivia Wong, an American Public Television spokeswoman. American Public Television is distributing the show.

The episode took place at Microledon Farm in Conway as well as the Seven Seas Seafood Market, where the three chefs gathered fresh ingredients. The episode ended at the Caledonia Golf Club, which “sets the scene for a delectable feast including a pickled vegetable platter, paella and a crab boil with oysters,” Wong said.

Microledon Farm owner Oscar Chavez said he specializes in growing microgreens, which were used in the episode.

“We’ve only been farming for a couple years,” Chavez said. “So for us to do something like this was pretty exciting.”
