MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell banned from Twitter yet again

He just can’t give it a rest.

MyPillow boss and former president Donald Trump loyalist Mike Lindell was banned from Twitter for a second time after trying to re-join the social media platform under a new handle.

On Sunday, the 60-year-old conspiracy theorist set up an account using the moniker @MikeJLindell. His original account, @realMikeLindell, was suspended in January after the Minnesota native spent months falsely promoting the lie that the 2020 election had been somehow rigged. His new account was quickly taken off line because it violated Twitter’s rules against ban evasion.

Before being taken down, Lindell’s new account attracted nearly 40,000 followers in the three hours it existed.

Twitter had fallen under heavy criticism by conservatives by stepping up its efforts to control hate speech and the dissemination of disinformation. Many felt those measures were biased against right-wing ideology. However, those critics expressed renewed optimism about the platform last week when entrepreneur Elon Musk — a self-proclaimed “free speech absolutist” — put in motion a plan to purchase Twitter for $44 billion.

Despite Trump’s electoral loss, Lindell has hosted rallies and gone onto various TV stations to push unsubstantiated claims that faulty voting machines were to blame for President Biden’s 7 million vote victory.

He is being sued by Dominion Voting Systems and the Smartmatic voting technologies company for unsubstantiated claims regarding their operations. Several cable news outlets where Lindell advertised and appeared as a guest have also been targeted by those organizations in lawsuits asking for billions of dollars in damages.
