MyCentralJersey.com journalists honored by New Jersey Press Association

MyCentralJersey.com journalists won 14 awards, including three top honors, at the New Jersey Press Association’s awards dinner Thursday night.

Cheryl Makin (two) and Mike Deak took first-place awards in the small daily newspapers category at the event at the Forsgate Country Club in Monroe.

Makin won first place in the Feature, Lifestyle and Entertainment category for a trio of pieces judges called "well-reported, well-written and very engaging."

She also grabbed first place in the Specialty Writing category for a portfolio of education coverage.

Deak won first place in the News Column category for a trio of pieces that conveyed how living in Central Jersey shapes residents’ lives.

  • Jenna Intersimone, Feature, Lifestyle and Entertainment Writing Portfolio

  • Alexander Lewis, Business Writing Portfolio; Government Writing Portfolio; Sports Action Photo

Third-place winners included:
