Music in the Park is back with a summer line up that starts with the Mayor's Jazz Fest Concert May 26.

Jazz Fest concert is free to the public

The 2024 Mayor's Jazz Fest Concert is scheduled for 6 p.m. May 26 at Plaza de las Cruces, located at 100 N. Main St.

The concert is free to the public. The event is family friendly.

Trumpet player headlines Jazz Fest

Jazz Fest will be headlined by trumpet player Wayne Bergeron.

He will be accompanied by Border Jazz Orchestra and the Organ Mountain High school Jazz Workshop Bans 1 and 2.

Bergeron is originally from Los Angeles, and his career spans decades, first playing lead trumpet with Maynard Ferguson's band in 1986.

Bergeron has worked on over 500 television and movie soundtracks, according to a news release from the City of Las Cruces.

Music in the Park series runs through August

Jazz Fest kicks off the annual summer long Music in the Park series.

This year, free and family-friendly events are scheduled every Sunday through Aug. 25.
