Murfreesboro City Council promotes assistant city manager

The Murfreesboro City Council offered the next city manager job to Assistant City Manager Darren Gore.

Gore will replace City Manager Craig Tindall by July. Tindall requested stepping down from the top job to serve in a special counsel attorney role. Tindall has been city manager since 2018 after previously serving for over two years as the city attorney.

The elected council interviewed Gore and fellow Assistant City Manager Sam Huddleston Friday morning prior to choosing Gore as Tindall's successor.

Tindall will continue to lead efforts in crafting the city's next fiscal year budget that starts July 1 before moving into his new role.

The council voted 6-1 to offer the job to Gore. Councilman Kirt Wade opposed.
