Murfreesboro area track Class AAA athletes who reached the TSSAA state championships

Several Murfreesboro area high school track and field standouts advanced to the TSSAA state championships, thanks to success at the Class AAA, Section 2 meet this week.

The top four finishers in each event advanced to the state meet, which will be held at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium on May 23 as part of TSSAA Spring Fling.

Among the big performers in the sectional meet were Rockvale's Xarya Udoumana, who won the girls triple jump and long jump and also advanced to state in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. She also finished first in the sectional pentathlon (2,814 points) to advance to the state pentathlon (which will be held May 15-16 at MTSU).

Rockvale's Gavin Deery won the sectional decathlon (5,402 points) while teammate Preston Fuller (5,387) was second as both advanced to state.

Riverdale's D.J. Taylor won the boys 100-meter dash while also advancing to state in the 200-meter dash and high jump.

Below are the top four finishers in each sectional event who advanced to the state meet:
