Murder charges against Simone Biles’ brother dismissed

A judge dismissed the murder case against Simone Biles’ brother on Tuesday.

Tevin Biles-Thomas, 26, was accused of killing three people at a home in Cleveland in 2018, but a Cuyahoga County judge tossed the case, local NBC affiliate WKYC reported.

Biles-Thomas’ first trial ended in a mistrial in May, after the jury received legal briefs they were never supposed to see. His defense attorneys then pushed for the charges to be dismissed.

Judge Joan Synenberg ruled Tuesday that prosecutors did not have enough of a case to sustain a conviction, according to WKYC. An unidentified woman screamed and ran at Biles-Thomas after the judge’s ruling, but was tackled by cops.

Biles-Thomas was also facing felonious assault and voluntary manslaughter charges, which were dismissed alongside the murder counts, the Associated Press reported.

DelVaunte Johnson, 19, Toshaun Banks, 21, and DeVaughn Gibson, 23, were killed in the Dec. 31, 2018, shooting.
