Muncie Community Schools kindergarten roundup set Thursday

MUNCIE, Ind. — Muncie Community Schools will hold kindergarten roundup at all six of its elementary schools from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 11.

This is an opportunity for families to register their 5-year-olds for the 2024-25 school year while getting a firsthand look at classrooms and having questions answered directly by teachers and administrators, according to a news release.

Children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 to be eligible for kindergarten.

Kindergarten roundup will coincide with open enrollment for all grades, preschool through 12th.

Preschool openings are limited with priority given to children who will be 4 years old by Sept. 1. Three-year-olds may be admitted if space is available. Financial assistance through Indiana’s On My Way Pre-K program is available for many families, and applications can be found here: bit.ly/49j95dK.

The quickest and easiest way for parents and guardians to enroll new or returning students to Muncie schools is going online to EnrollinMCS.org. People who need assistance or prefer to register in person at their home school should plan to bring these documents: current identification, proof of residency, student’s birth certificate and student's immunization records.

By enrolling students early, parents and guardians make it easier for school principals to appropriately staff their buildings for the first day of school, which is set for Aug. 7. For more information, visit muncieschools.org.
