Multiple shootings took place in Louisville Tuesday night, resulting in 2 deaths and injuries

Two are dead and two others injured after four shootings occurred Tuesday night across Louisville, Metro Police said in a statement.

Beginning around 9 p.m., officers from various divisions responded to multiple shootings within a two-hour window. Officials don't believe the incidents are related to each other, LMPD spokesperson Matthew Sanders said.

Seventh Division officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 3500 block of Versaille Lane where they found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was conscious at the scene and transported to the University of Louisville Hospital, where he died in surgery, Sanders said. Around 11:30 p.m., the Homicide Unit arrested and charged 31-year-old Nathan Short of Louisville with one count of murder in connection with the incident.

At 9:13 p.m., Second Division officers responded to reports of a shooting near West Market Street and Amy Avenue. A boy was found with wounds in the upper left leg and buttocks, Sanders said. He was transported to U of L Hospital and is expected to survive.

Shortly after, at 9:19 p.m., Second Division officers responded to a shooting call near the 3400 block of Garland Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a juvenile with a gunshot wound to the head. The person was pronounced dead at the scene, Sanders said.

A little more than an hour later, at 10:25 p.m., First Division officers responded to reports of a shooting near the 500 block of North 20th Street in the Portland neighborhood. A man was found in the street with a gunshot wound to the head, Sanders said. He was transported to U of L Hospital and is in "grave condition." LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said no further update on the man's condition is available as of Wednesday morning.
