The latest Powerball jackpot keeps growing and South Carolinians have paid a hefty sum to try and get it.

Strong ticket sales have pushed the jackpot to a record $1.9 billion after nobody matched the winning six numbers drawn for Saturday’s $1.6 billion jackpot, which also was a record high.

But how much of that $1.9 billion has come from South Carolina ticket sales?

South Carolina Powerball ball ticket sales were $46.4 million as of Saturday for the latest jackpot run, which began Aug. 3, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery. That’s a sizable chunk of cash for tickets that start at just $2 a pop.

In Saturday’s drawing, more than 187,000 prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000 were won in South Carolina. Three players in the Palmetto State came close, but fell one number short of winning it all, according to an SC Education Lottery press release.

One of these players took home $150,000 on a ticket sold at the Refuel at 4584 Hwy. 17 in Murrells Inlet. The other two won $50,000 off tickets sold in Little River at the Food Lion #899 at 3379 Hwy. 9 E. and in Charleston at the Circle K at 897 Folly Road, the press release states.

The next Powerball drawing is set for 10:59 p.m. on Monday.

If anyone wins the current jackpot, they stand to get a cash payout option of $929.1 million.

The previous world record was a $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot won in January of 2016.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are about 1 in 293 million.

Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
