MSNBC’s Inside With Jen Psaki Heads to Primetime — How Will This Impact Chris Hayes?

Former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki is headed to primetime.

MSNBC announced Thursday that Inside With Jen Psaki will now air twice a week. In addition to its Sundays-at-noon broadcast, Inside will air a second episode Monday nights at 8/7c, leading into The Rachel Maddow Show.

As a result, All In With Chris Hayes — which has relied on a rotating lineup of guest hosts on Monday nights for the past year — will only air four nights a week, Tuesday through Friday at 8 pm.

The change takes effect Monday, Sept. 25.

Psaki made her NBC News debut last fall. At the time, MSNBC President Rashida Jones noted that “Jen’s sharp wit and relatability, combined with the mastery of the subjects she covers, have made her a household name across the nation. Her extensive experience in government and on the campaign trail and perspective as a White House and Washington insider is the type of analysis that sets MSNBC apart.”

Inside With Jen Psaki launched on March 19. Per Variety, it was the most-watched cable news program in its Sunday time slot last month, averaging 931,000 total viewers (compared with 922,000 total viewers for Fox News and 599,000 total viewers for CNN).

Psaki began her tenure as White House press secretary shortly after President Biden’s election in November 2020. Prior to her job with the Biden administration, Psaki’s career in political communications also included time as President Obama’s deputy press secretary and deputy communications director, as well as a stint as the State Department’s spokesperson. She also previously served as a political commentator for CNN.
