MPSSAA announces boys and girls lacrosse playoff region seeds, matchups

Smithsburg's boys lacrosse team will open the Maryland public-school playoffs as the No. 1 seed in Class 1A Region II.

The MPSSAA announced the seeds and brackets for the boys and girls lacrosse region tournaments on Monday afternoon. Region quarterfinals will be played Wednesday (with the exception of North Hagerstown's boys, with North hosting the Washington County Track & Field Championships that day), with semifinals following on Friday.

Boys Lacrosse

Smithsburg (12-1) earned Washington County's only No. 1 seed and has a bye in the quarterfinals.

Boonsboro (5-7) is the No. 5 seed in 1A West Region II and will travel to face No. 4 Brunswick on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The winner will travel to face Smithsburg on Friday.

In Class 3A West Region I, North Hagerstown (4-7) is the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Frederick on Thursday at 6 p.m. South Hagerstown (2-10) is the No. 6 seed and will travel to No. 3 Tuscarora on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Girls Lacrosse

Boonsboro (7-5) has the top seed among Washington County girls teams. The Warriors are No. 2 in 1A West Region II and have a bye in the quarterfinals. In Friday's semifinals, they will host No. 3 Catoctin.

Smithsburg (1-10) is the No. 4 seed in 1A West Region II and will host No. 5 Brunswick on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

In 3A West Region I, North Hagerstown (3-9) is the No. 5 seed and will travel to face No. 4 Frederick on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
