Who moved on? Round 2 updates for Houma-, Thibodaux-area teams in LHSAA baseball playoffs

Four Houma- and Thibodaux-area baseball teams survived the first round of the LHSAA playoffs, and three managed will be moving on. Here's how each team did in Round 2:

Assumption

The 11th-seeded Mustangs pulled off the upset against North Vermilion — in Game 1. AHS pulled off a 5-0 road upset over the No. 6 Patriots, and went into Game 2 with home-field advantage. However, Assumption was run-ruled in Game 2, 13-1, and lost 4-3 in Game 3 to be eliminated from the Division II non-select playoffs.

Covenant Christian

After a first-round bye, 2-seed Covenant Christian took on No. 18 Catholic-Pointe Coupee in the second round. In their game — Division IV select, the bracket in which CCA and CPC compete, plays single games instead of three-game series — the Lions defeated the Hornets, 5-3.

E.D. White

The 6-seed Cardinals opened the Division II select playoffs with a 1-0, pitchers' duel win over Archbishop Shaw in Game 1. In Game 2, the ASHS bats woke up while the EDW offense was held in check, allowing the Eagles to stay alive with a 3-0 win and forcing a winner-take-all Game 3. In that game, E.D. White did just enough to escape with a 4-3 win.
