Move plants inside Wednesday night. Erie under freeze watch through Thursday morning.

We’re not done with the cold weather just yet. It's going to be freezing in Erie tonight.

The National Weather Service out of Cleveland reports that Erie is one of multiple areas in the region under a freeze watch.

The freeze watch, issued when there is a potential for significant, widespread freezing temperatures, will remain in effect from Wednesday night until 10 a.m. Thursday morning impacting portions of northwest Pennsylvania and northern portions of Ohio.

Nearby areas that could be impacted by this freeze watch include Erie, Edinboro, Corry, Union City, Meadville, Warren, Titusville, Conneaut, Ashtabula, Cleveland and more.

The National Weather Service predicted that temperatures could reach sub-freezing with a low of 28 degrees.

Winds will be low Wednesday night, reaching 6 to 10 mph.

Wednesday's high temperature is expected to be near 50 degrees with a 40% chance of rain.

Widespread frost is expected mainly after 4 a.m. with a low around 33 in some areas.

Back to normal temps after Thursday morning

The freeze watch should end around 8 a.m. with temperatures returning to a high near 50 degrees later Thursday.

The National Weather Service is then calling for a sunny Friday to kick off the weekend. Temperatures on Friday are predicted to reach 74 degrees followed by showers on Friday night into Saturday.

After 2 p.m. on Saturday, Erie is looking at a high of 75 with an 80% chance of precipitation.

Protect the crops

If you decided to begin planting in April, the NWS is advising you to take precautionary actions to protect the crops.

Freezing conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and be hazardous to unprotected outdoor plumbing.
