Need a new mouse? You can't beat this rechargeable wireless one on sale for $7

Here's how I describe the ideal computer mouse:

  • Wireless, with a "nano" USB receiver so I don't have to deal with Bluetooth

  • Rechargeable, so I don't have to replace a battery every few months

  • Reasonably large, so my hand can grip it comfortably without turning into a claw

There are plenty of mice that meet those criteria, most of them priced anywhere from $15 to $20 (if not a little higher). Nothing wrong with that, but check out this: For a limited time, and while supplies last, the Inphic Wireless Rechargeable Mouse drops to just $7 when you clip the on-page 5%-off coupon and then apply promo code EHY2WDR8 at checkout.

I've been using the Inphic mouse for the past week; it replaced a popular Jelly Comb model that was, well, fine, but I like this a lot better.

Yes, it's wireless: Just plug the receiver into any USB port and the mouse pairs immediately. Would a Bluetooth mouse work just as well and save me a port? Maybe, but I've had sporadic problems with various Bluetooth keyboards, and I have USB ports to spare. So I'm happy with this.

The mouse comes with a 700mAh rechargeable battery that Inphic says is good for up to 18 months (!) on a charge. If it happens to die during a crucial work effort, you can still use it while it's recharging.

I particularly like the large, ergonomic design (intended for right-handers, I'm sorry to say), which I find very comfortable to grip. The mouse includes a textured scroll wheel, oversize left/right buttons and a set of forward/back navigation buttons embedded in the side.

I was concerned my thumb might graze the back button by accident, but so far that's happened only once. And it's easily remedied by then pressing the forward button.

The mouse weighs three ounces, so it's on the lighter side — something to consider if you prefer a little heft beneath your palm. Personally, I'm happy with the weight; it doesn't feel too light to me.

Did I mention this thing is just $7? If your old mouse is on its last legs or you're just ready for an upgrade, snag this while you can.

While you're at it, consider getting a new mouse pad with a cushioned wrist-rest (like this one for just $7). I've used one for years (see the photo up top) and can't recommend it highly enough. It not only elevates your wrist to help prevent against repetitive-use injury, but also keeps your skin from touching the cold, cold desk — something that especially bugs me during winter months.
