Mount Union men's track and field team wins 13th straight conference championship

Make it a baker's dozen for the Mount Union men's track and field team.

The Purple Raiders won their 13th straight and record 40th conference title at this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships at Heidelberg. Head coach Kevin Lucas and his assistants were named men's coaching staff of the year.

Tyler Gill, Tylir Shannon, Aidan Malloy and Vinny Zeren set an OAC record in winning the 400-meter relay in 40.35 seconds. Their time ranks second in the nation in NCAA Division III.

Gill also teamed up with Matt McBride, Justin Knoch and Josh Fouche to win the 1,600 relay in 3:11.73. Their time ranks third in the nation.

Mount Union's Kenadee Wayt OAC Sprinter of the Meet

Kenadee Wayt was named most outstanding sprinter of the meet after she helped lead the Mount Union women's track and field team to a runner-up finish at the OAC Championships.

Wayt won the 100 in 11.88, the 200 in 24.26 and ran on the Purple Raiders' winning 400 relay. She ranks third in the nation in the 200 and fourth in the 100.

Joining Wayt on the 400 relay were Madison Miles, Dae Dae Nash and Katie Campbell. They set a meet record with a time of 47.52.

Two Walsh athletes win at G-MAC Track and Field Championships

Two Walsh track and field athletes won titles at this week's Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships at Hillsdale.

Dominic Nutter won the men's hammer throw with a throw of 227 feet, 4 inches. Claire Rethman finished first in the 1,500 in 4:26.36.
