Mount Rushmore 'blindfolded' in apparent teaser for new Call of Duty video game series

Viral marketing for what appears to be the latest entry in the "Call of Duty: Black Ops" series of video games features the four presidents on Mount Rushmore being blindfolded.

Several websites that cover the Call of Duty series reported on Wednesday morning that a website had gone up that was likely a teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops VI.

A short video on the website opens with a profile shot of George Washington's face at night, followed by a group of people running through a wooded area and climbing rocky cliffs.

The shot then cuts to daytime, where the presidents have been blindfolded, with the cloths reading "THE TRUTH LIES," alongside an orange logo of a three-headed dog that had been previously been used in marketing for an Xbox event set for June 9.

How relevant Mount Rushmore will be in the game's main plot, if at all, is yet to be seen. The Black Ops series has traditionally pursued alternate history versions of real historical events, including issues like the assassination of John F. Kennedy or the Cold War.

But if the monument is simply part of the game's trailer and nothing more — oh well. At least, we've still got "North by Northwest."
