Motorcyclist injured in crash, rescued from drain in Conway Township

CONWAY TWP. — A local woman was rescued from a Conway Township drain after suffering a lower leg injury in a motorcycle crash Thursday, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched around 10:14 a.m. to the intersection of Fowlerville Road and Mohrle Road in Conway Township.

Preliminary investigation showed a 28-year-old Fowlerville woman was traveling north on Fowlerville Road and attempted to turn west on Mohrle Road on her 2024 Kawasaki, according to LCSO, when she lost control.

She collided with the guardrail on the north side of the intersection, was ejected and landed in the drain. The Fowlerville Area Fire Department removed her, police said.

The motorcyclist was taken by Livingston County EMS to University of Michigan Health Sparrow Lansing. She's being treated for a non-life-threatening, but serious, lower leg injury, according to LCSO.

Speed appears to be a contributing factor, LCSO reports, but not drug or alcohol use. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
