Motorcyclist flown to Shock Trauma after collision in Hagerstown

A motorcyclist involved in a collision on Massey Boulevard on Wednesday afternoon was flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries, according to Hagerstown Police.

Two other people from the multi-vehicle crash were taken to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, according to a Washington County 911 supervisor.

The crash occurred shortly after 1 p.m. at Massey Boulevard and Heister Street, Hagerstown Police Lt. Rebecca Fetchu said in an email.

That area is near the Red Lobster and Tractor Supply store.

An adult male motorcyclist was heading south on Massey when the bike collided with an SUV at the intersection with Heister Street, wrote Fetchu, spokesperson for the police department. The impact caused the SUV to roll over.

The driver and adult passenger in the SUV had nonlife-threatening injuries, she said.

A Hagerstown Police crash reconstructionist was called to the scene to investigate.
