Motorcyclist dies while ‘practicing’ driving bike in Cheviot, police chief says

A 30-year-old woman died Sunday evening after an unusual single-vehicle motorcycle accident.

Alexis Rutland, of Cheviot, was pronounced dead at Mercy West Hospital, the Hamilton County Coroner’s sheet says.

Cheviot police were dispatched to the Cheviot Fieldhouse on Robb Avenue at 8:34 p.m. that day.

According to Cheviot Police Chief Jeffrey Patton, Rutland was practicing riding a three-wheel Canam bike in the parking lot when she was thrown from the motorcycle.

A preliminary investigation indicates Rutland landed on the concrete, resulting in life-threatening injuries.

The 30-year-old was transported to the hospital, but she was later pronounced dead.

Chief Patton says the crash investigation is ongoing.
