Mother's Day in Central Mass.: Brunches, teas and other ways to show Mom how much you care

WORCESTER ― Mom is pretty special most days, but on the second Sunday in May, we get the opportunity to show her just how much she means to us.

This year Mother's Day falls on May 11, and if you haven't already ordered flowers or made a reservation to treat the lady in your life, you better get to it. From brunch to afternoon tea, there are a number of events planned for Mom in Worcester County.

Take Mom to brunch

185 Bistro - 185 Shrewsbury St., Worcester.

From waffles to benedicts, there is something for every mom on the menu at 185 Bistro.

Beechwood Hotel - 363 Plantation St., Worcester.

The culinary team at Beechwood Hotel will whip up a fantastic and traditional Mother's Day brunch featuring make-to-order omelets, carving stations, and a fully stocked dessert table. The meal is expected to sell out and reservations are strongly recommended.

Eller's Restaurant - 190 Main St., Cherry Valley.

Eller's is offering its annual Mother's Day brunch buffet from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. featuring a number of delicious items including fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, French toast, pancakes, baked ham, baked haddock, roast beef, mashed potatoes and a full dessert table. The best part? Kids 5 and under eat for free.

Femme Bar Worcester - 62 Green St., Suite 2, Worcester.

Moms get to eat free at Femme Bar on Mother's Day, with a purchase of an adult beverage. Reservations are required for the buffet-style brunch.

Livia's Dish - 1394 Main St., Worcester.

Unlike the majority of Mother's Day brunch events, Livia's Dish is taking walk-ins only, so you'll want to get there early to snag a seat for Mom.

Off The Rails - 90 Commercial St., Worcester.

If you're letting Mom sleep in, brunch kicks off at noon at Off The Rails for what they're calling a "Classic Country Mother's Day Brunch." The buffet will feature brunch classics as well as a delicious BBQ spread.

Peppercorns Grille & Tavern - 455 Park Ave., Worcester.

The Mother's Day brunch buffet is back at Peppercorns, offering more than 22 delicious options for the entire family. The buffet will run until 3 p.m., with the last seating at 2 p.m. Reservations are recommended as this is one of the restaurant's most popular events of the year.

Salem Cross Inn - 260 West Main St., West Brookfield.

If Mom has any sort of allergies, Salem Cross Inn is serving up a delicious Mother's Day brunch with several gluten-free options including maple bacon wrapped scallops, roasted pork tenderloin, and baked New England haddock.

Samuel Slater's Restaurant - 200 Gore Road, Webster.

Between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Samuel Slater's will be offering a Mother's Day buffet complete with an avocado toast bar, a carving station, and dessert table. Reservations are required.

Afternoon tea, just for Mom

Mother's Day Tea Party - The White Room, 138 Green St., Worcester.

Hosted by The Blissful Tea Party, this pop-up tea party is sure to wow the Mom in your life. Exquisite teas, snacks and treats "specially prepared to pamper your mom" will be available.

Mother's Day Lavender Tea Party - The Farm at Summit Wynds, 69 Summit St., Holden.

Why not take Mom to the farm and indulge in some amazing lavender treats made locally? The farm opens at 12:30 p.m. and by 1 o'clock guests will be invited to sit and enjoy some tea. During the event, Mom will get the chance to make her own lavender scrub to take home and relax.

Old Sturbridge Village - 1 Old Sturbridge Village Road, Sturbridge

Forget brunch, treat Mom to afternoon tea instead. Old Sturbridge Village is offering a traditional afternoon tea sitting with small bites, sandwiches and desserts. The event is taking place at Ox & Yoke Cafe and reservations are required.

Show Mom how much you care with a class

Mother's Day cupcake class - Oakholm Brewing Company, 80 Lake Road, Brookfield.

Mom may already know best when it comes to making cupcakes, but that doesn't mean her frosting flowers don't need work. This class will teach decorating techniques, while bonding with your loved ones. Each ticket includes six cupcakes, buttercream, and a gum-paste plaque that reads "Happy Mother's Day." Attendees will also receive a box to bring home their treats, and a drink from Oakholm Brewing Company.
